New drive-thrus given the green light

BURGER King and Starbucks drive-thrus have gained approval in Widnes.

The application arose at the Green Oaks Centre on Green Oaks Way.
Halton Borough Council had refused the proposal which involved two drive-thrus, together with car parking for Lancashire-based Aim Land Ltd.
The company appealed and inspector R Morgan was appointed to resolve the issue.
The main question was whether the access and servicing arrangements would be suitable and safe, according to the inspector.
The drive-thrus would be located on part of the town centre car park.
One would be occupied by Starbucks as a coffee shop with a drive-thru and the other by Burger King for a hot food takeaway and restaurant.
