Councillors set to decide on plans at former power site

COUNCILLORS are poised to make a decision on plans for a significant development at the former Fiddlers Ferry power station site.
Peel NRE's application for the land, located on Widnes Road, is set to be reviewed by Warrington Borough Council's development management committee.
The proposal includes a phased development comprising the construction of four units for general industrial and/or storage or distribution uses, along with ancillary offices, associated service yards, parking, landscaping and infrastructure, with access from Widnes Road. The power station shut down in March 2020.
Partial demolition has been carried out at the site, with the northern cooling towers demolished in December 2023.
