Valley's oldest club paves way for bright new future

Bacup Borough Football Club was established in 1879 and in recent years has celebrated no less than four Cup Final wins.

It plays a huge part in the community of Bacup, nestling on Cowtoot Lane in the middle of a residential area.

Manager Brent Peters is the longest serving football manager in the world having been at the helm for 28 years.

He said: "Waking up every morning and knowing the club is still alive is my proudest achievement. Without the support of the community and partners we'd struggle to stay in business."

The borough has many people who volunteer to maintain various aspects of the club, its grounds and the team.

Volunteer business development manager Jane Pallister said: "It's really important for us to have good relationships in the Rossendale Valley.
