More needed to help out rural areas

HAVING grumbled in this column about the number of times Rossendale and Darwen MP Andy MacNae was having to try and sell unpopular policies from his Government to his constituents, it was good to see him leading the charge the other way last week.

On Friday, he held a special debate in Parliament called “rebalancing regional economies” which made the point that there can be lots of places which can feel left behind, especially when so much investment goes into cities.
