Concern for homeless woman living in tent

A HOMELESS woman living ina tent ata recreation ground has been taken to her family after an outpouring of concern on social media.

The woman had most recently been living in Rossendale and had been living ina tent on Baxenden Recreation Ground in Hollins Lane since March.

Baxenden residents took to Facebook to express their worries about her welfare.

They also contacted the local ward councillor David Heap to express their fears for her safety.

Cllr Heap went to see the woman in her mid-40s and contacted her family in the North-East of England.

He then drove her to stay with her aunt in Northumberland on Thursday and posted his actions on social media to ease the worries of local people.
