Summer of roads revamp complete

A SPECIAL summer initiative to upgrade highways across the borough has been completed, with the annual surface dressing programme improving the condition of a number of roads.
-
More than 43,000 square metres of roads have been treated as part of the programme, which prolongs the life of the road and improves skid resistance.
Streets in each township have been targeted, with Hollin Lane in Middleton, Sandy Lane in Rochdale North, Wardle Road in Pennines, Oldham Road in Rochdale South and Manchester Road, Heywood all treated this year.
This year, an additional follow up treatment, called lock chip, has been added to the programme, to further improve the condition and appearance of the road, before the teams go back to repaint lines and other markings.
