Intensity lacking in Littleborough's loss

Littleborough came up short in their home game against Walsden at Hare Hill on Saturday with a lack of intensity in all three disciplines

- BRENDAN MISKELLA & RICHARD PARTINGTON

LITTLEBOROUGH got exactly what they deserved from the visit of Walsden and that was nothing as the visitors completely dominated from ball one.

The home side won the toss and elected to field in a match initially reduced by three overs and further reduced to 34 overs as intermittent showers caused delays in the early part of the game.

Yet again, a complete lack of intensity in all three disciplines paved the way to a pretty poor display.

Ryan Miskella and Lewis Willman failed to apply any pressure whatsoever as Walsden coasted to 43-1 off 10 overs with Nick Barker falling to Miskella when the score was 30.

Straight after one of the rain breaks, Bryce Parsons got a snick off skipper Josh Gale for 23 with the score on 51.

Two new batters at the crease and Miskella brought on two spinners and spread the field, which was puzzling as basically he and his bowlers gifted Jake Hooson and Dushan Vimukthi a start, and it was a start they did not waste as they rotated well and coasted to a match winning partnership of 89 before Hooson fell to a sharp catch by Miskella off Harrison Chew for 47.

Vimukthi brought up a well deserved half century before falling in the last over for 61 off 68 balls.

Joe Gale came in and blasted a run-a-ball 29 as the innings finished on 184-6 which was increased to 193 courtesy of Duckworth and Lewis.

The home side's bowling lacked any game plan along with any control and the fielding lacked any kind of intensity with players ambling between overs, which was not enjoyable to watch.
