Boro's shoddy display is no laughing matter
Rochdale Observer
|May 24, 2025
Littleborough left Darwen on a sun-baked Saturday evening with exactly what the majority of the team deserved absolutely nothing.
It breaks my heart to say this, but I witnessed far too many players (one is far too many) who just didn’t seem to care about the outcome of the match.
If they carry on with this mindset then they will end up in a relegation battle for the second season running.
In the last four innings at this ground nobody has scored 100 and at 52-6 the visitors had the home side exactly were they wanted them.
They should have been all over them like a rash, both physically, verbally and most of all with the ball, making them work for every single run.
What did they do?
Rotated the bowling when there was no need to, ambled between overs, started laughing and joking and completely took their eye of the ball as they thought the job was done.
It was like watching junior cricket.
The outcome?
They didn’t even bowl Darwen out, never looked like bowling them out and the home side amassed 163-9 on a pitch that was bowler friendly to say the least.
This was 70 too many.
Littleborough waved the white flag and were rolled for 96 which is a par score on here.
