Christmas mission success for Legion

IT was mission accomplished for the Retford Branch of the Royal British Legion after their successful 'Operation Christmas' received support from a group of Bassetlaw District Councillors.

The festive event allowed veterans who struggle with loneliness and social isolation to celebrate together and enjoy Christmas Lunch and some military camaraderie.
Approximately 80 members attended the lunch, with a councillor grant of £550 helping to fund transport to The Well in Retford and entertainment for the veterans.
Jane Harris, Vice President of the Royal British Legion's Retford and District Branch, said: "We are incredibly grateful to the councillors whose generous support has made this Christmas Lunch possible.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for our members to come together, share in the festive spirit, and celebrate the camaraderie that makes our branch so special.
