October 11, 2025

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today appealed to the central government to immediately convert Bandi Singh Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana's death sentence to life imprisonment in keeping with the assurance made to the Sikh community on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in 2019.

Speaking to newsmen here, the SAD president said once this was done it would pave the way for Bhai Rajoana's release as he has already spent 29 years in jail. Asserting the entire Sikh community worldwide was one this issue, Mr Sukhbir Badal said he as well as Shiromani Committee president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami had also conveyed this sentiment to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
