EVERYDAY, on all auspicious occasions and during troubled times too, Hindus recite the shanti paath or prayer for peace which, inter alia, reads: “O loving Lord, may there be harmony in all elements of nature. Let peace prevail everywhere and in everyone. May that glorious peace abide in me.”
Only if a person is at peace with himself can he be at peace with the rest of the world. Hinduism's timeless gifts of yoga and meditation can help everyone to attain inner peace and harmony as well as holistic health.
Harmony leads to happiness. The Hindu Prayer for Happiness (Sarve bhavantu) implores: “O Lord! In you may all be happy. May all be free from misery and pain. May all realise goodness.
Disharmony is caused by inequalities, social injustices, discrimination, etc. Hindu scriptures emphasise equality.
In the Holy Gita (9.29), Lord Krishna declares: “the same I am to all beings. I look upon all equally.”
All human beings are equal children of God.
