WARD boundary changes must be guided by principles of fairness, voter equity and service delivery — not race.

The proposed amalgamation of Mobeni Heights and Havenside in Chatsworth, into Lamontville, has rightly raised concerns. Unless tangible reasons are given for the change, the race card will be held up as the supposed motive for moving the boundaries ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.
The realignment of boundaries will see the geographic area of Mobeni Heights and Havenside change from ward 69 in Chatsworth to ward 74 in Lamontville.
