IT WOULD have been a cataclysm of cosmic proportions, a veritable fall from grace like no other. The 10 heads of Ravana, that formidable repository of Vedic scholarship and demonic arrogance, hitting the ground with a thunderclap that echoed across the heavens.

The epic battle on the island of Lanka had reached its crescendo. Lord Rama, the divine Prince, having traversed the southern plains and bridged the ocean, had after many days of gruelling combat, finally found his mark.
