Family home at centre of plans debate
Portsmouth News
|January 12, 2026
A bid to turn a family home in Copnor into a large house in multiple occupation is to be considered by councillors.
An application has been made to convert a home at 261 Powerscourt Road, a mid-terrace house, into an eight-person, seven-bedroom house of multiple occupation (HMO).
The proposal has received 13 objections, triggering a discussion and decision to be made by Portsmouth City Council's planning committee on Wednesday.
Concerns have been raised about parking, noise, waste, antisocial behaviour and the loss of a family home.
