Milly Sweeney’s award-winning play Water Colour is clever, dynamic and rousing.

Her debut professionally-produced work came about after the young writer won the St Andrews Playwriting Award.

Water Colour is a partnership work with Byre Theatre, Playwright’s Studio, Scotland and Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

Sweeney’s script - surfing the rise and fall of emotions and the encounters that make the difference between life and death - is heartfelt and genuine.

The colloquial words and expressions that tumble from the lips of her two subjects are priceless admissions about being young, experiencing doubt, needing to feel and regaining pride.

Watching Molly Geddes (Esme) and Ryan J Mackay (Harris) own the intimate studio space at Pitlochry Theatre was mesmerising.
