Admired vessel gets a new home

The public can once again imagine what it’s like reaching underwater depths in a submarine with the re-launch of the South African Naval Museum’s submarine museum.

Dubbed SAS Assegaai, the museum was officially reopened by the Chief of the South African Navy, Vice Admiral Monde Lobese on Wednesday 30 April.

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis was a special guest, and he had the honour of cutting the ribbon to officially open the museum, said spokesperson for the SA Navy Carel van der Merwe.
