Young writers can win top essay prize

Young writers from Renfrewshire could be in with a chance of winning a £2,000 prize by entering a new essay competition.

Entries submitted will be judged by a panel of award-winning historical biographers and historians.
Having launched on Tuesday, May 6, the new literacy prize aims to find and celebrate the creative minds of young people for the younger writers: the Elizabeth Longford Brief Lives 2025 Essay Award.
The panel itself consists of Professor Roy Foster (chair of judges), Flora Fraser (Elizabeth's granddaughter), Antonia Fraser (Elizabeth's daughter), Richard Davenport-Hines and Professor Rana Mitter.
