School support service has helped families secure financial gains

A total of 13 people have been helped through Renfrewshire's school support service to secure almost £60,000 in financial gains in recent months.

The initiative, run by Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau, is beginning to show “real build and traction” in relation to the number of clients and income gains.

That's according to a senior council official who provided an update on the project at a meeting of the Fairer Renfrewshire subcommittee.

Laura McIntyre, head of policy and partnerships, said: “You'll recall from previous discussions at the board around, I suppose, there was a feeling that to begin with some of that was quite slow in terms of coming through.
