Cooper aiming for promotion tilt and strong cup run after last season's injury woes

St Mirren Women's goal next season is to be in contention at the top of the table - after a horror injury-hit campaign derailed last season's title charge.

Prior to Christmas, the Mossedge Village outfit had gone on a sensational eight-game unbeaten run which saw them sit at the SWF League One summit for more than two months.

However, long-term injuries to key players, including club captain Helen McLeod, soon saw the squad struggle for numbers with academy players being drafted in.

Despite the hit to results, the Buddies still made it into the top half of the standings — finishing in fifth spot with almost a brand-new squad made up of youngsters.
