Safety fears over trees near school

Safety concerns have been raised about the stability of trees on a road in Bridge of Weir - a state of affairs that has left residents feeling "quite anxious".

Worry has grown over the situation in Warlock Road in recent years but that feeling of unease was only exacerbated when a large tree fell days before Christmas.

It then meant Storm Eowyn would prove to be a particularly troubling weather event for people in the street in January as strong winds wreaked havoc in the area.

Councillor James MacLaren, a Conservative representative for the village, has urged Renfrewshire Council to take preventative action at the location which is also home to Bridge of Weir Primary School.

He said: "The storm in January certainly highlighted the problem and a tree came down in December so it's obviously concerning for residents.
