Robbo ready for pre-split decider after Goodwin lifeline

Stephen Robinson says Jim Goodwin will be getting his vote for manager of the year - after the former St Mirren boss threw his old club a top-six lifeline today.

Last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Dundee in the City of Discovery looked set to confirm a bottom-six finish for the Buddies.

However, Goodwin's Dundee United side trumped 10-man Hearts, who fluffed their lines at Tynecastle last Sunday, to set up a pre-split decider this afternoon.

Should Saints beat Ross County at the SMiSA Stadium, and Hearts fail to beat Motherwell at Fir Park, they will make it a hat-trick of top-six finishes.

And to still be in with a chance of making it into the top half, Saints gaffer Robbo made it clear to Goodwin he would get his vote for top boss.
