Peak rail fares scrapped for commuters
Paisley Daily Express
|September 01, 2025
Renfrewshire ScotRail commuters are set to save up to £50 per month as today marks the scrapping of peak rail fares.
-
Local Green MSP Ross Greer has welcomed the news that peak rail fares will be permanently removed following a campaign from the Scottish Greens and trade unions.
From today, travellers will pay the off-peak price on all services regardless of time or day of the week.
The policy announced by the Scottish Government in May this year is aiming to make train fares simpler, more flexible, and provide better value for money for rail users.
A further aim of the change is to get more people to leave the car at home and travel by rail instead.
