Housing project plans set to be accelerated

Plans to build new homes in Barrhead can be brought forward as a result of an increased government grant.
East Renfrewshire Council intends to deliver around 66 houses on a site at Commercial Road in the town.
The project had been in the council's plans for 2026/27 but extra money from the Scottish Government means development can get underway earlier.
Around £500,000 can now be spent on designing the scheme and applying for planning permission in the 2025/26 financial year.
