Real estate company James (Glasgow) Ltd -which lists Rangers hero Ally McCoist and Jeffrey East as directors - has requested planning permission for a reduced blueprint of 10 houses and 23 flats in Thriplee Road.

The proposal sparked 395 objections, ranging from worries about traffic and infrastructure to the impact on services and a local bat population, compared with 63 messages of support.

But Renfrewshire Council planners believe the housing development should go ahead, subject to 16 conditions and a legal agreement to secure commitments, such as a £240,240 education contribution.
