A father-of-six has been remanded in custody after being caught with cannabis worth £192k at Glasgow Airport.

Stuart Carberry caught the attention of Border Force officers at Glasgow Airport when he arrived into the Paisley transport hub on March 25 with two suitcases.

The 47-year-old had travelled from Bangkok via Dubai and when officers searched his suitcases and found 36 vacuum bags of cannabis, he told them he had “no idea” what it was.

Procurator fiscal depute Michael Cunningham told Paisley Sheriff Court Carberry first appeared in relation to this matter on March 26, from custody and was released on bail with the condition to surrender his passport and sign on at his local police station twice per week.

Mr Cunningham explained the circumstances of March 25, stating: “Around 12noon, the accused entered the UK at Glasgow Airport having travelled from Bangkok via Dubai.

“Border Force officers stopped the accused within the green channel and at this time he was in possession of two suitcases.
