Burgh back with a bang
Paisley Daily Express
|July 15, 2025
Johnstone Burgh were in red-hot form in the sunshine as they retained the Abacus Cup with an emphatic preseason victory over Longside.
A hat-trick from talisman Kyle Lafferty, a double for Aiden Gilmartin and a further goal from King gave the Burgh faithful plenty to cheer at Keanie Park.
In the opening minutes, the Junior Cup holders took an early lead through ex-St Mirren kid Gilmartin as he met Kian Gilday’s cross with a glancing header into the far corner of the net.
Moments later, former Rangers and Northern Ireland international Lafferty got on the scoresheet in what is his 21st season as a professional footballer.
