OAV teachers demand govt employee status

In a massive show of strength, thousands of teachers from the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) Teachers Association Monday staged a protest at Lower PMG, right in front of the State Assembly, demanding government employee status and pressing for a 13-point charter of service-related reforms.

Despite OAVs being celebrated as Odisha’s flagship school education model, consistently delivering exceptional results in CBSE, JEE, and NEET, teachers say they are battling insecurity, stalled career progression, and denial of basic service benefits.

Addressing a gathering of nearly 5,000 agitating teachers, Association President Ripudaman Mishra expressed anguish over what he termed a “decade-long neglect.”
