We're always learning from each other... the kitchen is a place we both love to be

WHEN it comes to cooking, there are many things that inspire celebrity chef John Torode and his wife, actress and TV chef Lisa Faulkner - but travelling around the world takes the number one spot.
John, 56, best-known for presenting MasterChef on the BBC, thinks it's particularly important to observe different cultures through the food they eat and the way they feed their families.
So for the 10th series of John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen, the pair have taken inspiration from their own travels, blending sun-drenched flavours with accessible ideas.
As with previous runs, the couple invite viewers back into their kitchen to prepare meals using recipes that are accessible for aspiring chefs and beginners, and to people who just enjoy pulling together a home-cooked meal.
John - who was awarded an MBE in 2023 for outstanding services to food, broadcasting and charity - and Lisa, 53 - who won Celebrity MasterChef in 2010 - will simplify everyday meals, including crowd-pleasers such as burgers and tacos, and share four different ways you can cook with rice.
Plus, they'll teach viewers how to use ingredients they might never think of trying, such as scissor-cut noodles and crispy rice with a variety of Asian-flavoured toppings.
Here, the couple discuss their favourite summer food memories, their top three tips for saving on shopping costs and food waste, and their relationship in the kitchen.
Do you have a favourite summer food memory?
John: As long as the sun is shining, I am a happy man. Being an Australian, the sun is a must-have, but I do love eating “posh” outside.
So, setting the table outside and eating properly, all dressed up with loads of sharing dishes in the middle, where everyone can choose what they want to eat.
