DISAPPOINTMENT AT PLANS FOR FORMER BOOTS PHARMACY IN TOWN SQUARE WHERE FOOTFALL HAS BEEN 'ABYSMAL' SINCE CLOSURES
PEOPLE in Carlton have opposed new plans for a former Boots pharmacy.
Planning documents have been submitted to Gedling Borough Council for 19 Carlton Square, where Boots used to be.
The pharmacy on the ground floor of the building closed early last year.
Plans show the unit, which has been standing empty ever since the closure, could now be taken over by a hot food takeaway.
It is unclear what food the takeaway would serve.
However, a floor plan submitted with the planning documents shows a pizza cooking area.
The new business, if given the green light, would created four full-time jobs and two part-time ones.
It would be open Monday to Friday and Sunday between 11am and midnight and between 11am and 1am on Saturdays.
But residents and nearby businesses say the town already has enough takeaways and made suggestions for other shops that would, in their view, be of more use to Carlton.
