Urgent pothole talks confirmed as county's roads dubbed a 'mess'

AN urgent meeting to discuss Nottinghamshire’s pothole crisis has been confirmed as the Reform-run county council is accused of getting itself in a “mess.”

The authority has defended its approach to the highways, saying it has inherited decades of mismanagement and that it is now working on innovative new approaches to address repairs, including the purchasing of two “game-changing” JCB machines.

But given millions of pounds in extra investment from the government to fix roads, Nottinghamshire MPs argue that residents need to see more results.

Steve Yemm, the Labour MP for Mansfield, coordinated a letter to the county council signed by all eight Nottinghamshire MPs - including Reform's Robert Jenrick and Lee Anderson. The letter called for an urgent meeting to discuss the pothole crisis and this has now been confirmed for Friday.
