Toon Army 'confident' as they push on with £55m bid for Elanga

NEWCASTLE United are said to be pushing hard to sign Nottingham Forest ace Anthony Elanga and are “confident” of being able to secure a deal.

The Magpies were rebuffed in their attempt to prise the winger away from the City Ground 12 months ago. However, their interest has not gone away and it appears they are ready to try their luck once more.

Teams can start doing business again on Monday, when the transfer window reopens after being closed for a few days. And the signs point to the Reds' resolve to hang on to Elanga being tested in the second half of the window.
