Thug spat in police officer's face and kicked another in leg

POLICE officers were spat at and kicked by a man who attracted suspicion during a pre-Christmas operation in Mansfield.

Benjamyn Marriott, 26, was first seen acting suspiciously while standing by a police vehicle in the town centre.

He ran off, but a short time later, officers stopped him in Stockwell Gate.

He spat in an officer's face and kicked another officer in the leg during the incident, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Marriott, pictured, of no fixed address, was also found to be in possession of amphetamine.

He was subsequently charged with offences and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court for sentencing on Monday.
