Thief's 'bizarre dance' to distract victim before stealing phone

A THIEF used what Nottinghamshire Police are calling a “bizarre dance” to distract his victim whilst stealing his mobile phone.

A senior officer has dismissed the idea that the dance was “cultural”, which is reportedly an excuse used by many offenders.

The force says officers believe the thief pretended to be drunk to trick his victim into thinking he was “simply in a cheerful mood” during the incident at around 7.30am on Sunday, November 16, in Clumber Street.

CCTV footage has shown that the man did “not appear to be intoxicated" when he was in a McDonald's just minutes before the theft.
