ST George's Day celebrations were in full swing in Nottingham yesterday, with England flags, red roses and pints of beer flowing, despite the Church of England putting the date back until Monday.

England's patron saint is usually celebrated on April 23 each year but according to Church rules, no saint's day can take place in the week before or after Easter.
While there is no parade this year, patriotic locals dressed for the occasion and raised a glass at pubs across the city centre.
Lynda Nightingale, of West Bridgford, said: "It makes me proud to be British - and there's still plenty to be proud of. It's nice to stay positive with it all and embrace it."
