'Soul-destroying' and 'heartbreaking' vandalism at rail heritage centre

THE director of Nottingham’s Transport Heritage Centre says vandalism is “soul destroying” after a third attack on the building.

The lone vandal managed to bypass the site’s security and cause £10,000 damage to historic train carriages.

Despite spending over £15,000 on security precautions after two other incidents, the Ruddington site, a vandal broke into the railway yard to wreak havoc on several train carriages.

At least 11 were windows smashed or damaged, all the museum's first aid kits were ruined, a ceiling collapsed and fire extinguishers were emptied before being thrown out of train windows.
