Rachel changed everything for the Toffee Hut!

A CAFÉ owner is using her decades of experience in social care to keep her town’s community spirit alive.

- By JOEL MOORE

Toffee Hut in Mansfield is one of four venues in the running for our Notts Bites award for best café.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be speaking to each of the finalists, giving them the chance to pitch why they should win your vote.

Originally launched as a wholesaler in 2019, Toffee Hut has since expanded to open a boutique café, which serves speciality teas, cakes, brownies, cheesecakes, freshly baked scones and panini, ciabatta, rolls and wraps.

The business was born from Rachel Richards' burning desire to leave the social care sector, in which she had worked for more than 20 years.

“I needed a complete change. I'd done that many traumatic cases, it does take its toll,” she told the Post while making bread.

“I set up something I have always enjoyed and participated in.”
