MAN HAD BEEN CAUSING ISSUES FOR HOURS BEFORE HE 'ERUPTED'

- By MARTIN NAYLOR

AN angry patient spat at a nurse and punched a plastic screen after waiting for more than eight hours in A&E at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard how Dawid Matyka had been impatiently causing issues for staff at the hospital for a number of hours before he lost his temper and erupted.

After striking out at the screen that separates staff from the patients, the 38-year-old, of Mapperley, leaned through a hole in the plastic and spat at the nurse. Then, when the police came to arrest him and searched his bag, he was found to be carrying a knife.
