Panthers are crowned after playoff thriller

NOTTINGHAM Panthers won the 2025 Elite League Playoff Championship title after beating Cardiff Devils 4-3 in overtime at the Motorpoint Arena.

Panthers led 3-0 but were pegged back to 3-3 and both sides had goals disallowed in overtime during a breathtaking end to the campaign.
But in the second period of overtime, Mitch Fossier hit the Panthers' winner to lift the roof off the arena.
Panthers captain Sam Herr said: "What a wild game. Credit to Cardiff, that's a good team. You knew they were never going to quit." He added: "You invest so much each year with the group of guys and that's what we did this time.
"We gave everything. We came together and started playing our best hockey in the second half of the year." Davis Bunz failed a late fitness test at warm-up so Otto Nieminer returned to the line-up as Panthers went with 12 forwards and six defenceman.
