Paddling pool could reopen soon as last jobs under way

MORE than three years after it closed, the opening of the long-awaited, new-look Victoria Embankment paddling pool could be just weeks away after works there had to be delayed.

The site, which was built almost a century ago, in 1928, closed in the summer of 2021 due to ongoing issues with water leaks.

The pool then fell into disrepair and has not been used since. Work began on July 29 last year, with the cost of the project estimated to be around £750,000.

The newly designed paddling pool is described as "a modern interpretation of the traditional water play previously enjoyed by many" and the council said it was "well on the way" for opening in late spring this year.
