New team to check city buildings in wake of Grenfell disaster

ANEW team of inspectors will check that Nottingham’s tall buildings are safe after 2017's Grenfell Tower disaster.

Buildings around the city - including Marco Island, a 13-storey block on Huntingdon Street, as well as the Litmus Building in the same area - are covered in combustible cladding, which is being removed.

Nottingham City Council says six temporary staff are being employed for 23 months to help with inspection work and enforcement in private rented properties and tall buildings.

They will work alongside Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service to help address any problematic external cladding and any work that may be needed.
