Massive logistics park planned for farmland

A SPRAWLING development on the border of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire could create 1,000 jobs and a new country park.

Developer Harworth is putting together plans for a business and logistics park on farmland and the former Bennerley coal disposal point, west of the village of Awsworth.

It is planning to turn 61 hectares of land, part of which is protected due to its green belt status, into 1.3 million sq ft of large and small industrial and distribution units.

These new units, which are planned to run along Shilo Way up to the A610 opposite Giltbrook retail park, would create 1,000 of full-time equivalent jobs, the developer has said.

The transformative development plans for the vast swathe of land would also include a new country park, which will be set up near the Bennerley Viaduct and the Erewash Valley railway line.
