Man jumped off bridge after police came to arrest him for beating up partner at her flat

A WOMAN beater jumped off a bridge and into a stream when police came to arrest him for attacking his partner.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how Adam Gladders repeatedly punched the victim at her flat after drinking in Nottingham.

A neighbour of the woman called 999 after hearing her shouting “please someone help’ as the 27-year-old, of Bulwell attacked her inside her own home.

At the time the defendant was on bail for an earlier assault on the same victim which involved him smashing a karaoke screen at a city centre bar.

Jailing him for 15 months, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC said: “Remorse after the event is sometimes easier than facing the enormity of one's conduct at the time. People who are in a relationship are expected to treat each other with respect.

“You, three times now, have used violence against your partner and she, either out of misguided loyalty or the wish that one day you will stop this has not made statements.
