Life behind bars for thug who laughed as he beat pensioner black and blue

Jason Dyer will not be released until he no longer poses a risk to others

A 71-year-old woman who was “beaten black and blue” by a man she called her ‘stepson’ said “I did not think he would stop attacking me until I was left for dead”.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how Jason Dyer forced the pensioner to drink vodka, even though she was recovering from a broken hip and then “did not stop laughing” as she sat in her armchair covered in blood following his horrific attack.

The hugely-convicted 54-year-old was then found sitting “calmly” on her sofa when the police arrived saying “yeah I did it” when asked if he was responsible for her dreadful facial injuries.

In a victim impact statement, the remarkable woman told how despite now feeling “a nervous wreck” she “will not let this attack get her down”.

Handing Dyer a rarely-bestowed life sentence, Judge Michael Auty KC said: “She was no match for you.
