Last few traders still on market after 'closure'

A HANDFUL of traders are still open at Nottingham's Victoria Centre Market two weeks after its "final" day of operation.

Nottingham City Council previously said that all traders would be required to leave after Monday, March 31 but some are still there, arguing they believe that they cannot be lawfully evicted.

Stephen Taylor, who runs the general hardware store Aladdin's Cave, is one of around a dozen traders who say they have no plans to leave.

"We haven't heard anything since March 31," he said.

"We don't know what's happening, and we can't really plan ahead because this has been going on for three years now.

"The thing is: we're the busiest we've ever been.

"My only part-time member of staff has had to go full-time because we're that busy.
