Landmark deal will offer boost to shopping area

A DEVELOPER with plans to transform a historic shopping area into Nottingham's Carnaby Street says a landmark deal on the Broad Marsh will provide a "boost" to the project.
The ALB group first started its regeneration project on Bridlesmith Gate in 2021 and now owns 14 units in the area, some of them based on nearby Byard Lane.
In common with surrounding streets like Lister Gate and Low Pavement, Bridlesmith Gate has suffered since the collapse of the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre in 2021. 2025 has so far seen a string of businesses announce that they will leave the street.
Garms opened its Nottingham branch in the summer of 2023 but will be closing down in April. Fashion store 18montrose will also cease trading in June.
Stores to have already left this year include menswear retailer Mint Duck and Stick and Ribbon.
