RESIDENTS PLEAD FOR CLEAN-UP AT WOODLANDS ESTATE IN RADFORD
THE Woodlands estate in Radford is a prominent feature of Nottingham's skyline.
But one longstanding resident says the buildings and land surrounding the flats need urgent TLC - with discarded shopping trolleys, human waste and piles of rubbish a visible sign of decay.
"They used to be cleaned every morning. There used to be a guy out here making it look nice. Now I don't see anyone for months," said Abdulla Hamadi, a resident of the flats for 20 years.
When the Post visited the site, it looked like there hadn't been a cleanup for some time, with litter in bushes and bulky household items apparently deliberately discarded.
There were items of furniture left in bushes, dirty nappies, empty alcohol bottles, trolleys full of waste, and broken drains with indescribable piles of mess within. In addition, metal fencing had been abandoned.
Now Mr Hamadi has pleaded with Nottingham City Council, which is responsible for the flats, to spruce up the area.
He said: "It's not nice. I see it like this all the time. There aren't many reports by other residents, but it's not right and it's not nice.
