How new Trent bridge will look as structure takes shape

Nottingham Post

|

August 26, 2025

THE first bridge to be built over the River Trent since the 1950s continues to take shape as a new image has been revealed of what it should look like.

The huge project - named the Waterside Bridge - got going in May after being given the green light by planners in April last year.

The bridge will be assembled on the river's edge before being lifted into place, with parts currently being put together eight miles away at Briton Fabricators on Watnall Road in Hucknall.

A huge arch currently towers over homes in Hucknall. It will eventually be the centrepiece of the bridge.
