Founder of charity breaks down in court

He said: “He was asked if he banked the money and he said ‘yes but not regularly’ and then the meeting ended abruptly.

“He said he took the money home and put it in a safe but then suggested his ex-partner and her sister had helped themselves to the cash.”

Mrs Dolan, in her statement to the court, said the defendant was the organisation's first apprentice and was “part of the Rumbles family from the age of eight”.

She said Rumbles sent him money to help him with his family and gave him extra time off work.
