HE ORGANISES CABARET WITH TOP PERFORMERS

- By LYNETTE PINCHESS

TWO-THIRDS wizard, one quarter magical idiot, and the remaining three-eighths mathematical genius - that’s how magician Chris Wilder is introduced as he takes to the stage.

For the best part of a decade he taught science to secondary school pupils before swapping the classroom for the stage.

As well as entertaining private parties with his dazzling magic tricks, Chris is the founder of the Curious Cabaret, a parlour magic show in intimate venues, where he performs and hosts magicians from around the world. The show has been a regular feature at The Berliner, a bar in Chilwell, and now the Cosy Club in Nottingham city centre.

Shows are also being added in Mansfield, at the Newstart Theatre, and The Blue Room in Lincoln, from July.

The 41-year-old, from Beeston, performs an array of tricks using rope, playing cards, and a Rubik’s Cube - a far cry from his caree teaching physics to pupils at Nottingham High School and Rushcliff Spencer Academy.
