CAUGHT WITH WHISKEY IN CAR IN SECOND OFFENCE IN THREE WEEKS

- By JOEL MOORE joel.moore@reachplc.com

A POLICE officer caught behind the wheel with a can of whiskey and cola was stopped for drink-driving again on the morning he was due in court.

Former police constable Jakub Lewandowski was over the limit after being pulled over twice during a three-week period over August and September.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences and was given a community order and a three-year driving ban at Southern Magistrates' Court on September 19.

The former PC, who resigned on November 10, was told he would have been sacked at a gross misconduct hearing at Nottinghamshire Police headquarters in Sherwood Lodge Drive, Arnold, yesterday.

The hearing heard that Mr Lewandowski was off duty when stopped by colleagues in Wollaton Road at 4.12am on August 31.
